Surfing in Mexico

Flying to this paradise that is hardly known to the European Surfer is not to hard you just have to get a flight to Huatulco which is approximately two and half hours from Salina Cruz. You will find a number of airlines flying to this airport including Mexicana. This place really does rock and the best season to surf here is from May to September and possibly into October. The winds during this period are mostly offshore and the surf very consistent..... Summer surf ah!!!! Wonderful.

There are 13 different surf spot to choose from depending on the weather conditions. All have perfect rights with sand bars. The water is pleasantly always warm, or seems to be anyway, there is never the need for a wetsuit at all in our experiences. There are no crowds to be found and you will be amazed on how many hidden locations can be found with such consistent surf. The best thing about this spot is there is a regular surf tour company based at Salina Cruz. Arrangements are made to pick you up from the airport and they will drive you to and from the breaks everyday - guaranteed successful surfing holiday.

The local company is owned and run by Cesar Ramirez who is a local being born and bred in this region. He has really worked hard to put together a high quality affordable surf camp for travelers from all over the world. The surf guides are bilingual in Spanish and English and trained at First Aid.
